Flying Anywhere Soon?

Saturday, November 1st, 2003 at 12:00 pm

Here's a heading from AAtractions Magazine. Measure for Measure from American Airlines World of Entertainment 11.03 page 2, which is currently playing on all 737, 757, 767 and A300 aircraft. "Recent releases by J.C. "The London" Bach and Vaughn Williams are featured along with classic performances by Leonard Bernstein, Barry Tuckwell, and the Bassoon Brothers." We are in great company here. And we are, of course, very proud that our mission to promote the bassoon is working. The piece played is Funeral March of a Marionette by Gounod a.k.a. The Alfred Hitchcock Presents Theme. Sit back with your drink, a snack and listen to a band of belching bedposts.

Chamber Music On Tap at the BridgePort Brewpub Portland, Oregon

Wednesday, February 19th, 2003 at 6:00 pm

Bassoons and Brew, what could be better? We return to the scene of our past crimes and sold out performances. The Bros and Sis will reprise Fanfare for the Common Bassoonist (with the help of the audience) and try out a few new derangements with our first brewpub appearance of the sopranoon. Minors are allowed to attend with an adult. We've even had a few babies in our audience in the past to experience the savagely soothing sounds of several 'oons. Call the Oregon Symphony ticket office at (503) 228-1353 or toll-free at 1-(800) 228-7343 or visit their website (click on Performances and then Chamber Music on Tap).

Sweet Sounds in Walla Walla

Saturday, February 15th, 2003 at 7:30 pm

What do you get when you cross a bassoon with a Walla Walla sweet onion? Answer: Music so sweet that it brings tears to your eyes. The Walla Walla Symphony has invited the Bros back (we can't believe it!) to perform a "chamber music" concert at 7:30 in Cordiner Hall on the Whitman College Campus. We will premiere some new derangements and invite the audience to join us on Fanfare for the Common Bassoonist. Some cheap kazoos will be provided, or bring your own biggest, baddest buzz bomb, bro. Brother Bob will undoubtedly come up with a Top 10 list of reasons why you should have taken up the bassoon for Valentines Day. We're wondering whether the guy from Guam will make it this time?
