The Bassoon Brothers have scheduled a CD release party/concert for their new recording, Captured, on Wednesday, June 12th, from 6:00-9:00 pm at the BridgePort Brewpub (1313 NW Marshall) in Portland. Special guests will join the Bros including the Oregon Symphony's Norman Leyden on clarinet and Tommy Thompson on accordion. Symphony President Tony Woodcock will play the world premiere of Sunshine of Your Love (some old British rock) as arranged for electric violin and bassoon quartet. Other guest soloists will also join in throughout the evening. Tickets are $10.00 and available through the Oregon Symphony box office.

The Brothers and Sole Sister will perform while cruising the Willamette River on the Portland Spirit from 3:00-5:00 pm. This will be a Midwinter Benefit Cruise for our local classical radio station. Tickets are available from Portland's All Classical Radio Station 89.9 FM KBPS. The Bros will premiere Handel's Royal Firewater Music and attempt their first all classical performance. The group's newest instrument--the sopranoon, will have its first outing on a yet to be determined aria. Rumor has it that we may also premiere a new bassoon quartet written for us by Portland composer Tomas Svoboda. The boat boards at 2:00. What do you get when you cross a bassoon with a Walla Walla sweet onion? Answer: Music so sweet that it brings tears to your eyes. The Walla Walla Symphony has invited the Bros back (we can't believe it!) to perform a "chamber music" concert at 7:30 in Cordiner Hall on the Whitman College Campus. We will premiere some new derangements and invite the audience to join us on Fanfare for the Common Bassoonist. Some cheap kazoos will be provided, or bring your own biggest, baddest buzz bomb, bro. Brother Bob will undoubtedly come up with a Top 10 list of reasons why you should have taken up the bassoon for Valentines Day. We're wondering whether the guy from Guam will make it this time?

The Bros and Sis will reprise Fanfare for the Common Bassoonist (with the help of the audience) and try out a few new derangements with our first brewpub appearance of the sopranoon.
